Acupuncture is one of
the most ancient healing arts in the world. It is estimated to have developed over the past 5,000 years. Based on the philosophical and spiritual principles of the east, it arises from the concepts of yin and yang and the Five Elements of material existence. From the ether, or QI energy of the universe arises the two polar opposite principles of Yin and Yang. Yang is the fire, the active, the masculine energy. Yin is the liquid, the cool, the feminine energy. All life is a balance of these two forces. All disease is an imbalance of these two forces. But, it is more complicated than that, for the Yin and Yang weave through the Five Elements of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood.
Each element contains two of our
most significant organs, and control
or manifest many aspects of our
senses, emotions, and reactions, they
rule our senses, the seasons and our
deepest internal rhythms.
