Weir Percept Language is a way of translating how we speak about our perceptions of our inner and outer world and other people in order to bring ourselves into a "percept orientation" toward ourselves, our perceptions, our behavior, our motivations and actions. Speaking in the percept language shifts our orientation toward the world from object to subject. The process of speaking in this way develops self-awareness and accountability as we take ownership of our own experiences, actions and perceptions. It reduces the projection of judgements and criticism onto others. It is an extremely useful tool in personal growth and self-differentiation and therefore in our understanding about how we are choosing to live our lives with respect to our physical, mental and spiritual health.
I use the tool of the percept language in my work when there is a need for greater accountability in one's approach to their health and their relationships and as a tool in sorting out difficult and stressful issues that arise in life. Workshops in Weir Self-Differentiation are available in person and online (please inquire here).
The Percept Language was developed by John and Joyce Weir as an important tool used in the Weir Self-Differentiation Labs. These are two day to two week workshops presenting an in depth learning experience designed to increase self awareness and self management. The participant is presented with novel opportunities to experience themselves in new ways and to self differentiate through this process. Experiencing the self with intentional focus in real time facilitates the process of growth and change and creates a learning environment for personal growth. The Weirlabs include tools such as assumed names, the percept language, the four stages of personal change, guided fantasies, dream work, in depth understanding of percept formation and transference, living in the percept orientation and targeted growth/change activities.
